The main advantage of podcasts is that we can listen to them whenever and wherever you want and it would be even better if we could do this offline. This is where HermesPod comes in, a tiny, but powerful utility, which enables you to download the podcasts you are subscribed to and subscribe to new ones. The application's minimalistic approach allows users to find and download their favorite podcasts without any effort.

HermesPod is free, but you have to pay if you want to get rid of the ads on its interface. It works on Windows XP and all later editions, up to Windows 10. The application comes in a small package and it can be installed in under a minute, without making any complex settings. The hardware requirements are modest and you don't have to install any prerequisite tools.

HermesPod's compact user interface presents three main options, for managing subscriptions, downloading podcasts and transferring them to iTunes. Subscriptions can be managed on a separate window, which is the first thing you nee to do, before downloading anything. You can do this either by providing a feed URL, which can be an RSS, Atom and so on, or by using the software's built-in web browser to find and add podcast subscriptions.

If you have one or more subscriptions in the manager, you can simply click a button on the main interface to start downloading. The software can store your podcasts in MP3 format and it can use whatever player you have installed to play back your downloaded files. You can also send your downloads directly to iTunes, from where you can go further and transfer them to an iOS device.

With its straightforward functionality, HermesPod makes it much easier to follow podcasts.

Pros

You can download podcasts without any effort. The software lets you manage your podcasts subscriptions. It can use your installed media players and it can also transfer your files to iTunes.

Cons

HermesPod lets you manage podcast only through RSS, Atom or similar services. You can't manage subscriptions if you use SoundCloud for example.
